~A portrait of each of my children, every week in 2015~
Amaleah// It’s been warm this week and so we’ve made our way outside almost everyday. It’s soccer season again so you are practicing and practicing, and making me kick the ball to you in my flats. You asked me one time, “Mom, who do you think is better at soccer, me or you?” and I was like, “Are you kidding me?” Come on, the answer is clear and oh so obvious, funny girl.
Julia// You are turning 9, and so we had a party at Thin Air. I watched you enjoy yourself so much, walking around with a sweet smile on your face the whole time. You told me in the car afterward that it was your favorite party ever, and I’m so glad (even though I think you say that every year). I can’t believe you are turning 9, that sounds so old. Your name means “youthful,” and I believe you will always have that sweet innocent joyful spirit of youth, even when you are old. And I love you for it.
Landis// This week I told you to go outside and try to lure some bugs out so you could observe them. You kind of belly-ached at the idea, but in turn I saw you outside in my garden, laying down a path of oyster crackers and watching and waiting (although I’m not sure you waited long enough, my little antsy boy). And then you came to the door with a roly-poly on your hand and the most precious look on your face. So glad I happened to have my camera in my hand.
